A few stories behind the Special Thanks By Valérie...

Many years ago, I met Thierry Kopernik and his guide dog, Brahma. That encounter started a life friendship. More than ten years ago, when I lived in Vancouver, Thierry and his wife, Laurence, came and visit me. Both are visually impaired, and I was their guide. We went to Alaska, together and I was surprised that so many people asked them why they travelled, since they could not see. That experience stayed with me as a wonderful lesson of strength and courage.
During the filming of ''Claire de Lune'', Thierry was my advisor on the proper use of the harness. He actually shipped me one himself! Grateful forever.

Joe Khan and Debbie Macaskill were our real estate agents when we moved from Vancouver to Toronto. We became friends, got to meet their talented daughters, Kiana and Brenna and we would not celebrate a New Year's Eve without going to their lovely house!!! Their house became the home of the De Conti family. Indeed, they let us use their house as one of our main locations. Joe and Brenna are also the lovely neighbours in the film.

Krista Boyes is the most amazing teacher I ever met. My son, Evan, got lucky to have her as a Grade 3 teacher. While we were in pre-production of ''Claire de Lune'', my first step was to talk to Mrs. Boyes to know if she would like to be involved in a 'special project' with her students. And she said yes! Then Mrs. Craig, the Principal said yes and I was fortunate enough and inspired, to convince the School Board to come on board too! Everyone was so nice and helpful. They even helped me finding posters for my sets at school.

I met Ida Linckert Hertzman on set a few years ago, and being both from Ajax, we started talking. I instantly loved her energy. When I asked her if Cooper, my favourite dog on Earth, a beautiful golden retriever, could play in my short film, she was immediately willing to help. We had beautiful walks by Lake Ontario or in the woods, to get to know each other. She also portrayed the Principal in the film.

I don't know Gregory Delhomelle, but I am grateful he lent his beautiful and spacious van so Antoine, on top of being co-producer, actor, dad of actors, just to name a few, also became the driver of the all crew team from Toronto to Burlington and Toronto to Ajax.

Mark Datuin, Josiane Babin and Pierre Simpson are my director and actor friends who have been always generous enough to answer my questions, and even refer me to some crew members or actors who became part of the story.

I am grateful to Virginie Tapin who has always been involved while staying behind the scenes. Her husband, Antoine and daughters, Charlotte and Zoélie are a great part of the film. Without the Tapin family combined with the Lecomte-Assailly family, the film would not exist!!!

That brings me to Alain Assailly, my husband, who has helped me in every stage of the film. He has patiently listened to me while I was processing my ideas, and he was my photographer for the pictures dedicated to be used on set and the photographer on set. He is responsible for all the great pictures Behind the Scenes. He was also production assistant, driver on set, and simply everywhere!!! In post-production, he helped create the Iridis Production logo and many times sat with me to review the images or the credits, line by line. Thank you!

Speaking of family, I am so grateful to all the parents of the actors or background kids. And they were many!

I am grateful to everyone who was involved in the crew or in the cast. I was fortunate enough to surround myself so well.
Also, I am such a proud mum to see that Evan enjoyed his debut on camera. He got so interested in every aspect of the making of a film.

I also want to thank Patrice Leconte because he has always encouraged me to do the film of my dreams, and I am grateful that such a famous director found time to guide me in my creative process.

I can't wait to start another film.
Hopefully always with Antoine Tapin as a co-producer. This has been a fantastic team work experience.

Let's get to work on the next one with Iridis Production!

So grateful to Charlotte, my beautiful daugther on set and to Sophie, the trainee, here with her mum (thank you!).
Diana Leblanc. So grateful to have her on our movie. An honour too!
